Following several months of due diligence and an injection of seed capital, Empower Energy Technology, a leader in direct generation solar as well as renewable energy measurement/management, began incubating a new cleantech venture in February 2023.

 

The startup—dubbed CarbonEnfo—aims to extend the company’s expertise by creating and launching blockchain-driven energy data solutions for enterprises and consumers alike.

 

Initially the company is focused on developing the first consumer-friendly marketplace for the buying and selling of solar renewable energy certificates, also called sRECs or RECs. The solar market is projected to reach nearly $400B by 2026, and the related sREC market to hit $100B by 2030 (Allied Market Research).

 

Last year, a record 750,000 homeowners installed solar energy systems (Solar Energy Industries Association).
